Wow!

Ok, giveaway excitement aside, we're back today with the next episode of our BRS/WWC Hybrid System with one of the most in-depth videos @Ryanbrs has ever done and today it's all about mechanical filtration.

Spoiler alert - This one may answer some skimmer adjustment questions once and for all. ;)

looking forward to watching. I have a RO Classic 200INT and that thing is a beast, it's quiet, and easy to adjust if I want a wetter skimmate or a dryer skimmate. Set and forget, not to mention, I can't hear it, which when I'm down in the basement, I don't want to hear.

@randyBRS

I finished watching it. Next thing you know these video's will be 90 minutes, and require a $12 ticket to watch....Lots of good information, but one thing that was left out, even though this is about Mechanical filtration, Ryan touched on the refugium, and usage of carbon. Since I moved to an algae scrubber, I have not had to run carbon in the tank. I'm also, as previously mentioned running the RO Classic 200 INT skimmer, but I skim pretty dry, and I know there's not a ton of nutrients, which is evidenced by the cup, which typically has maybe 2" of skimmate after a 2 week period (I empty/clean every 14 days). I do run 3 4" filter socks, and with a pre-fab sump, seeing how the new roller mats can be implemented into that configuration would be interesting.

Since I do not have a lip that the water rolls over, it just flows up and into the socks, I do not think I can use the filter floss/pad but I do have the 4" filter cups. I have tried to use the pads in those, but they seem to clog extremely fast, and cause my ATO to constantly kick on, lowering the salinity. What I did was buy a big roll of the blue/white padding, cut it in 4" circles, put in the bottom of the cup...is there a better way to implement using the filter pad in those cups since I'd be much more inclined to just replace the padding, and pull out the socks, wash the socks, every 3 days.
